Design For Distancing: Ideas Guidebook

“When you allow car space to dominate your streetscape, it’s not providing equitable access to neighborhoods… Images like these are a great way to start talking about who the streets are for, and why.”

The “Design for Distancing Ideas Guidebook” referenced here features ten plans for creating temporary, low-cost spaces for distanced outdoor engagement and commerce in public areas. The selected Concept Plans from landscape architects, architects, and designers offer a range of creative, practical, uplifting solutions that were developed for the city of Baltimore but could be adapted to any urban area. The plans themselves, linked here as well as in the article, show new ways to use space in the public realm in the coming months and considerations for more permanent solutions.
